By following an anti-inflammatory diet, you can fight inflammation for good. What does an anti-inflammatory diet do? Your immune system is activated when your body recognizes anything foreign, such as an invasive microbe, plant pollen or chemical. This often triggers a process called . Intermittent outbreaks of inflammation directed at really threatening invaders protect your health. However, sometimes inflammation persists, day after day, even when it is not threatened by a foreign invader. That's when inflammation can become your enemy. Many major diseases that afflict us, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, depression and Alzheimer's, have been linked to chronic inflammation. One of the most powerful tools to combat inflammation does not come from the pharmacy, but from the grocery store. "Many experimental studies have shown that food or beverage components may have anti-inflammatory effects," says Dr. Frank Hu, professor of nutrition and epidemiology at the Nutrition Department at Harvard Public Health School. Choose the right anti-inflammatory foods, and you can reduce your risk of disease. It consistently chooses the wrong ones, and could speed up the inflammatory disease process. Foods that cause inflammation Try to avoid or limit these foods as much as possible: Foods that cause inflammation Try to avoid or limit these foods as much as possible: refined carbohydrates, such as white bread and fried potatoes and other fried foods and other alcoholic beverages (bourgeois, steaks) and processed meat (hot dogs, sausages)margarine, shortening and lard Risks for the health of inflammatory foods It is not surprising that the same foods in an inflammatory diet are generally considered to be bad for our health, including refined sodas and carbohydrates, as well as red meat and processed meats. "Some of the foods that have been associated with a higher risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease are also associated with excess inflammation," says Dr. Hu. "It is not surprising, as inflammation is an important underlying mechanism for the development of these diseases. "Unhealthy foods also help increase weight, which is itself a risk factor for inflammation. However, in several studies, even after researchers took into account obesity, the link between food and inflammation remained, suggesting that weight gain is not the only driver. "Some of the food components or ingredients may have independent effects on inflammation on increased and higher caloric intake," says Dr. Hu. Anti-inflammatory foods An anti-inflammatory diet should include these foods: Anti-inflammatory foods An anti-inflammatory diet should include these foods: green leaf vegetables tomatosolive oil, such as spinach, curly cabbage, and nuts such as walnut almonds and fish, such as salmon, mackerel, tuna and sardinesfruits such as strawberries, blueberries, cherries and orangesAnthracian food benefit On the side of the mouth there are drinks and foods that reduce inflammation, and with it, chronic disease, says Dr. Hu. Takes particular note of fruits and vegetables such as blueberries, apples and green frostings that are high in natural antioxidants and polyphenols, protective compounds found in plants. Studies have also associated nuts with reduced markers of inflammation and a lower risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Coffee, which contains polyphenols and other anti-inflammatory compounds, can also protect against inflammation. Anti-inflammatory diet To reduce inflammation levels, look for a global healthy diet. If you are looking for a feeding plan that closely follows the principles of anti-inflammatory food, consider the Mediterranean diet, which is high in fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, fish and healthy oils. In addition to reducing inflammation, a more natural and less processed diet may have significant effects on your physical and emotional health. "A healthy diet is beneficial not only to reduce the risk of chronic diseases, but also to improve mood and overall quality of life," says Dr. Hu.
